Surveys and Studies I, Roger Johnsrud, personally took several coffee companies, brewed and instant and made 16 ounce BLACK coffee samples. I did a taste test (some even graduated from our "coffee taste test curriculum" at our the University of Montana in Missoula, MT.) and here are the results: Over 80% of the people selected OUR BLACK COFFEE over the competition. Additionally, in almost all cases the instant coffees were the last choice on the list. No one said our coffee was an instant. Most said instant was watered down, bitter or had the wrong consistency. This is in line with an independent test of Starbucks VIA that said, "The instant coffee was a little more bitter tasting. Also it didn't seem to stay completely 'mixed' as there were some of the coffee grounds floating around in the bottom of the cup (but I've seen that with other instant coffee's as well)." Interestingly, NO ONE selected their own brand of coffee which is in line with the supposed Starbucks blind test. Schultz said during his presentation that Starbucks customers have actually been blind taste-testing the product for months as it was slipped into locations in place of regular brew. He said nobody ever stopped and said "hey, something's wrong with this coffee!" Now about the mystery of the caffeine in VIA. I did a chemical test and came up with 75 mg. Also the cup is designed for eight ounces. Until Starbucks posts the actual amount of caffeine on the label, everyone is stuck guessing. Because they do not post on the label, I am sure it is very low, even lower than most instants. Finally, I took 20 ounces VERY COLD bottled water and mixed TWO packages of various coffees. Only the instants and ours had even a chance of mixing by shaking. Our coffee completely mixed with a few shakes. Our coffee was very strong making a 240 milligram 20 ounce cup of coffee. Did I mention that our coffee contains the Reishi mushroom with all the health benefits that is 100% organic? Did I mention our black coffee is only 10 calories? It has been determined that the major problem with weigh in the United States are the HIGH calories we consume in liquids. Did I mention our product is $0.53 plus shipping which is less than Starbucks Via from Costco. We have about twice the caffeine as Via per pack and according to taste tests, a FAR better flavored product. By the way, we have all the latte, mocha, cream and sugar and other options, all in the same convenient single serve packaging. Here is the kicker, Our SOD (Super Oxide Dismutase) Tea is great and I have not even started to tell you about the properties. It is made of Rooibos Tea leaves from South Africa and Ganoderma extract. This tea makes about six cups per bag for a box of 20 at $17. *Full review quotes for Starbucks were taken from walletpop.com. |
